About Us

Ashmeadow Farm (AMF) is a full-service equestrian facility that specializes in hunters, jumpers, and equitation. As a small, show-oriented stable with twelve to sixteen horses, the care of our horses is our primary concern. We also pride ourselves in offering one-on-one attention to help clients achieve their goals.

AMF is owned and operated by Amanda Steege who has been a professional rider and trainer since 1998. She has ridden many top show hunters including Endo Fino, Majestic, Balou, Candlelight, Unseen, Houndstooth Adria, True Fate, Russian Gold, Isaac, Allejandro, and Abel. She has trained many successful horse and rider combinations including Lisa Arena and Endo Fino (Amateur Owner Hunter), Charlene Graham and Capricette (Adult Jumper), Tony Arena and Majestic (Pre-Adult Hunter), and Kimberly Maloomian and Russian Gold (Amateur Owner Hunter).

Amanda has trained with Olympic rider Peter Wylde and equitation trainer Bill Cooney. Trainer Rick Fancher once explained that Amanda “understands getting from the stall to the ring. She actually makes the horse jump better – not just from finding good distances and hoping somebody likes him, but because she prepares him. It’s the care, management, the evaluation of soundness as it relates to performance – she’s involved in all that.”

Amanda has won tri-color ribbons across the country at shows like Devon, Capital Challenge, Harrisburg, Middleburg Classic, Fairfield, and HITS Ocala. Amanda has also produced top horse/rider combinations such as Megan McGuire and Candlelight who were reserve champions at Devon and Harrisburg.
